Conductor Marius Stravinsky celebrates birthday

Marius Stravinsky was born on March 13, 1979 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. At six, he entered the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky. At ten continued his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School (UK), and three years later became the first student from the former USSSR, at the music faculty of Eton.

In 2002, he graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. 2002—2004 interned at the State Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic under Vladimir Ponkin.

After becoming acquainted with Mariss Jansons Stravinsky became interested in orchestral conducting, and began training with Igor Golovchin. In the summer of 1998 he assisted Claudio Abbado at the rehearsals of the opera "Don Giovanni" directed by Peter Brook for the festival in Aix-en-Provence.

In September 2002, he was appointed assistant conductor of two groups - the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic and orchestra of "Helikon-Opera". The theater "Helikon-Opera" Marius Stravinsky for three years improved under Vladimir Ponkin.

Worked as conductor with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Great Britain, London "Philharmonic", orchestra the National Symphony Orchestra of Lithuania and others.
