Prolonged Autumn... Memories of the "Moscow Autumn - 34" shared by known Moscow composer Lilia Rodionova.

Lilia Rodionova is the author of four symphonies and the Concerto for Orchestra, Symphony for Prepared Piano, and many piano, chamber, vocal, organ and choral works.

A.M. In my hands there is a fairly long booklet, which contains not only of printed concert programs, but also annotations to the musical works, information about composers, performers, and the ensembles. I counted 48 activities. This was easy to do since the brief outline of the festival in the form of tables is placed on the first pages of the booklet.

LR Alexander, you are likely to include in the number, in addition to concert and opera programs, so-called "round tables", at which musicologists and composers debated on listened works, as well as the scientific conference on the 80th anniversary of the Moscow Union of Composers. At the last on there were such musicologists as G. Grigorieva, E. Dolinskaya, I. Romaschuk, T. Zhurbinskay and chairman of the Moscow Union of Composers Oleg Galakhov.

?.?. Eightieth birthday capital compositional organization - a major event! I think this explains the scale of depth and breadth "Moscow Autumn - 34."

LR. Continuing the theme of anniversaries, I want to say that in 2012 there were many. For example, the 100 anniversary of the Glinka Museum. In its funds are kept and studied creative heritage of domestic composers Glinka, Rachmaninov, Sergei Taneyev, V. Rebikov. In the concert halls of the Museum (besides the main function of the building as the Museum of Prokofiev's Museum. Chaliapin and Museum "Tchaikovsky and Moscow") sounds not only classics but the music of Moscow composers.

Let me mention another significant anniversary - the 100th anniversary of Boris Pokrovsky and 40 years of Chamber Music Theater. The festival showed 11 operas: "Strider", "Fool and the King," "The Happy Prince" Yekaterinburg composer V. Kobekin, "Cipollino" T. reed, "Album of Alice" B. Rubin, and others. Public could choose where to go: a chamber musical theater or a concert at the House of Composers.

?.?. Liliya Vladimirovna, tell us about the anniversary concert of the festival.

LR At the opening of the "Moscow Autumn" in the Great Hall of the Conservatory Concerto Shchedrin cantabile was successfully performed in a by magnificent violinist R. Zamurueva and the Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory (conductor V. Vale). Third of November, also in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory the Symphony Orchestra of Belgorod Philharmonic under R. Nigmatullin demonstrated great skill in interpretation so different in style and content of the product. The audience listened with great interest to the lyrical epic 30th Symphony by Slonimsky; Flute Concerto (A. Vodovozova) for orchestra by R. Kalimullin, in which the quasi-Asian Folklore thematic organically with modern European methods of development.

At the Concert Hall of the Gnessin Academy on November 27 the Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defence and the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defence performed the works of different years of another hero of the day – professor of composition of the Russian Academy of Music G. Chernoff. Unfortunately, I could not be present at the concert, as listened to jazz bands in the House of Composers. A bright event was a concert-dedication to Edward Artemiev, which sounded lovely music from different years of the 75 year old master. Participated in this project composers Kiselev, E. Fishtik, T. Buevsky, Sh Kallosh, V. Uliyanich, Komarov, A. Rostov, A. Rovner.

?.?What does international program represent?

LR I want to note "Finnish visit," which consisted of 2 shows at 17.00 and 19.00 on November 18. At the first concert performed successfully by Moscow GAM-Ensemble (artistic director and conductor of O. Paiberdin), second - Helsinki ensemble AJASSA! (conducted by Keio Aho). No less interesting was the "American visit," held at the Rachmaninov Hall on November 23. Seattle chamber players – a small group of five musicians have demonstrated excellence in the performance of works by E. Kline, J. Robin, A. Hubeeva, N. Popov and others.

Ensemble of Soloists "Studio for New Music" presented on November 16 the program "Russia-Germany: at the crossroads", in which, to quote Vladimir Tarnopolsky, "three works by German composers - D. Shnebelya, J. Schenker and N. Richter de Vroe. At present the project is well blended in style two works: “... pas d'action” D. Kurland and "Crime and Punishment" by O. Raeva.

For me, the most striking was the impression of the music by VA Tarnopolsky. In the present composition, entitled "Prisoner of the cave" (excerpt from the opera "Beyond the shadow"), the author managed to organically combine the latest technology with symphonic writing the logic of development of the material.

AM Did you like a project called "The Italian's visit?"

LR  I liked it very much. Where else can you see a silent film «Inferno» (Hell) on the "Divine Comedy" by Dante, voiced by the composer, "Addison-Studio"?

This project took place in the House of Composers November 10 and collected a lot of viewers.

The “Inferno” by  F. Bertolini and A. Padovana created for 3 years, and her first show was held in 1911. In the film, involved 150 primary and secondary actors and filmed 100 scenes. Directors did not spare money for the special effects, which are many: the flying demons, flying up into the sky crowd blissful souls hovering in the air, Paolo and Francesca, Bertran de Born, showing his severed head, and, finally, a huge eater sinners - Lucifer.

Composers "Edison Studio" M. Ciardi, L. Ceccarelli, F. and A. Cipriani Chiardi managed to create the perfect soundtrack for this film. The combination of mechanical sounds that form the acoustic field, with a lively speech literally "tighten" the audience into the atmosphere of "The Divine Comedy."

?. M. Audience (and I) admired theater drum M. Pekarsky. I would like to hear your opinion about this concert.

LR The concert really was vivid. I was impressed by  connection of electronics with impact. For talented composers such mixed creates many technical possibilities finding specific image content, themes which become transpersonal emotions, space, infinity of time and space. From the writings sounded I. Kefalidis, A. Nadzharova, N. Popova, Pospelov, N. Crunch I cannot distinguish someone. All seemed interesting.

AM How do you - jazz concert? The first branch I had to stand as were no empty seats. In the hall of the House of Composers then was a full house!

LR It was more than a concert, rather a jazz festival. Authors with bright creative individuality combined total project "Russian theme in jazz", in which each participant is lined at 100

The first part of an impressive performance as a singer songwriter E. Chernousova with his ensemble "Rooms", singing, "I was walking by Sadiku", a fantasy on two popular themes. Noble sounding of ensemble "Jazz-contact" with the music by O. Stepurko, Honored Artist of Russia, Associate Professor of the Institute of Contemporary Art.

The strong impression is left of the second branch. The young team "Academic Band" (Russian Academy of Music) under People's Artist of Russia Alexander Kroll showed great skill of jazz performance and improvisation. The audience enjoyed the exquisite compositions J. Markin, M. Ivanov and A. Kroll.

AM How the so-called Camerata - chamber music concerts was? There were thirteen, were not they?

LR Yes, the Camerata conducted by the House of Composers, sounded a lot of interesting music...

I enjoyed listening to the well-known essay by Pavlenko (1952-2012) "In the manner of Gauguin" for chamber ensemble of 14 November. Fourth of November program Camerata III graced Six Preludes for Piano by Alfred Schnittke, performed by A. Lyubitskaya

It is impossible to forget "Life of puppets" by S. Zhukov. Music is almost entirely built on the rhythms of tango, was the basis for a very expressive pantomime ballet (choreographed by A. Hasanov). In the same concert the two striking works: Concert Fantasy for Cello (E. ANTOKOLSKY) with authority (author) of M. Voinov and "Music for Two" for cello (R. Komachkov) and piano (E. Teplukhina) by E. Kozhevnikova . I remember the performance of FX Quartet at Camerata II involving trombone (Gorbunov), Arabic percussion dumbeka (Gramsci) and theremin (O. Rostov), who performed a meditative, very colorful composition by D. Gabitova called "Dervish". Regardless of stylistic preferences I want to call names of composers A. Umansky, A. Rovner, E. Podgaits, A. Radvilovich (St. Petersburg), S. Drakulic (Croatia), V. Ryabov E.Evtushevskuyu and N. Hrust. The last of these names presented to Camerata XII “Mikrosonet" (by Petrarch sonnet CXXI) for soprano (L. Gysin) and ensemble (Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, conducted by F. Chizhevsky).

On Camerata on V I was impressed by Tchaikovsky song cycle A for mezzo-soprano (T. Rubinskaya) and oboe (Balashov) on poems by M. Lermontov, RM Rilke, R. Auslander and I. Goethe. At the same concert sounded my piano sonata performed by Alexey Sergunin.

?M. I listened to all three of your Sonata with unflagging interest. How did you manage to combine in a single composition, minimalism, folk and dodecaphony?

LR In music, you can connect almost anything to anything if the composer has something to express. In the Sonata, I would like to tell about the transience of human life, of overcoming the internal disharmony and finding happiness in a merger with a spirited nature. All means of expression, including various writing technique as well - and my own experience - all combined with the sonata principle clearly thought drama.

?.?. Honored Artist of Russia, conductor V. P.Bulahov and Chamber Orchestra "The Seasons" led by him has prepared two programs. Liliya Vladimirovna, what of listened pieces did you like?

LR In terms of performance I enjoyed it, well, as for the music itself. For my taste, the most original was "Illusion of Life" , Concerto for Violin, Percussion and Chamber Orchestra, M. Brauner, "The Bridges of Time". A young composer Muzychenko, Concerto for oboe and string orchestra by D. Capyrin and Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra by A. Komissarov. Remained in the memory of a long-gone Sinfonietta composer V.P. Zaderatsky, the father of musicologist, professor at the Moscow Conservatory, V.V. Zaderatsky.

AM For the umpteenth time at the Moscow Autumn "is the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments. Osipov. Works which authors you remember?

LR First of all let me mention a conductor art by Folk Artists V. Andropov and V.  Kuzovlev. Symphony Concert for balalaika Was played brilliantly (A. Gorbachev) with orchestra in 4 parts by Tsygankov. Seemed to me an unusual score M. Gagnidze built entirely on the beautiful harmonies, gradually changing from the inside, performed on tremolo in balalaika group. Fiery, bold in language and grotesque Concerto for 2 oboes (I. Pais and Bychkov) with the orchestra by T. Chudova. I think the itwill remain in the repertoire.

AM State Brass Orchestra of Russia (Art Director - V. Chureev, conductor - V. Lutsenko, conductor - A. Kolotushkin) is also a regular participant of the festival. How would you rate the concert wind music?

L.R. Strenuous marches by V. V. Khalilov, Almaty, as well as "Long live Russia" by B. Diev and "Festive Overture" by S. Reshetova raised the emotional degree in the mood for the audience. Music by N. Savinov and young composers Anna Pavlova, A. Pospelov, Rice Moriya (Japan), I. Soshinskaya brought a fresh approach to the treatment of a brass band.

AM The autumn" and delighted fans of pop music. From 34 participants in two concerts. Please tell at least a few names.

LR Jubilees of the year are People's Artists of Russia A. Dobronravov, S Uhnalou. and M. Efimov and D. Zharov presented to the audience their best songs.

Additionally to anniversaries, there is music performed by such famous composers as G. Gladkov, Vladimir Komarov, L. Liadov, P. Slobodkin, Felzman, A. Flyarkovsky, V. Shainskij, S. Zhukov, Osnovikov, M. Minkowski and P. Aedonitsky.

?. M. It has become a tradition to hold choral concerts at the "Moscow Autumn". Which groups took part in the festival?

LR I can list. These are the Philharmonic Choir, State Choir of Moscow "Yaroslavia", the Moscow Region Choir, Boris Pevzner Choral Theater and the A.V/ Sveshnikov State Academic Russian Choir etc.

The concert was dedicated to the memory of Boris Tevlin (1931-2012), who made a great contribution to the promotion of music by Moscow composers not only in our country but also abroad.

I think it's time to call it a day. We discussed a lot of musical events. I apologize to those of my colleagues who escape my attention on the pages of the interview. Music by over 200 composers is performed on the "Moscow Autumn" every year. And in 2012 was made 236 authors! Accept the fact that you cannot tell all, and just about everything that was in the "Moscow Autumn". I would like to thank the organizing committee of the festival, headed by O. Galakhov, Administrative Group, General Director of the House of Composers AR Bagramova and sound managers E. Kochetkov and O. Yahnis.

AM Liliya Vladimirovna, thanks for the informative discussion. I wish you health, success and good luck in all your endeavors. Not far off "Moscow Autumn - 35." I hope that we will meet at the premiere of your new work
