Yuri Lyubimov will stage New Opera "School for Wives"

The premiere of "School for Wives" by Moliere, the author of which is a well- known composer Vladimir Martynov, will be held in 2014.

The performance will be staged by the outstanding director Yuri LyubimovThis is the result of the meeting between theater director Dmitry Sibirtsev and deputy head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Eugenia Shermeneva with composer Vladimir Martynov and director’s wife Katalin Lyubimov. Work on the creation of the opera has already begun. Participants of the meeting agreed, that performance can be a significant event in the cultural life of Moscow, and fits perfectly into the concept of the Novaya Opera Theatre.

Vladimir Martynov: "While there is only a blueprint. It will be something like singspiel or opera buffa. I am guided by "The Rake's Progress" by Stravinsky. Should get a very easy thing. My attitude is that people who love opera received it with pleasure”.
